An expansive and wonderfully elegant, even lacy nose of honeysuckle, pain grillé, citrus blossom and green apple combines with understated, pure and refined medium plus bodied flavors that culminate in a stunningly intense finish that displays as much minerality, if not more, as the Chevalier. This is still very primary and will clearly require a few years in bottle before it's really ready for prime time. As Ramonet Montrachet goes, the '06 version is on the more elegant and restrained side rather than bold and powerful. - BH

Pale yellow. Knockout nose offers citrus peel, white peach, iodine, nut oil and powdered stone, plus a whiff of barrel char. Dense, sweet and deep, with terrific penetration of flavor. This saturates the palate without coming across as a bit heavy. I followed this wine for days and it showed increasing richness and sweetness of fruit without losing its verve or grip. - VM
